Being an apartment locator, I have seen it many times where a client will go in to apply, forget an important document and have to go back and forth to get everything done. Hopefully this post will help you prepare everything that is needed, before going in to fill out your apartment lease application, to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
How long does the application process take?
a: 1-5 Business Days
Every apartment has a different way of running their screening process. Some properties can get the approval back same day and other may take 3-5+ business days. The amount of time it will take depends on how quickly they can get everything back, such as rental history, background check, income verification and credit check.
Tip: To move the process forward quicker, call all of the references listed on your application to notify them that they may be contacted by your future leasing agent. The faster the agent is able to verify the information you provided is correct, the sooner they will have your approval letter 🙂
What do I need to bring to the apartment to apply?
a: Filled Application, State ID, Proof of Income, Money Order for Fees
To apply you will need a filled rental application, a state ID or passport, proof of income ( copies of your last 3 paycheck stubs or bank statements) and a money order, in the amount of the application/admin fees and deposit.
